The
National Council of
Women of the
Philippines
(NCWP),
formerly the
Civic
Assembly of
Women of the
Philippines
(CAWP) is
the oldest
and one of
the biggest
women’s
coalitions
in the
Philippines.
NCWP serves
as the
national
coordinating
body of
several
national
women’s
organizations,
people’s
organizations
and councils
of women
nationwide.
Since its
inception in
1946, the
organization
has been
instrumental
in promoting
the
socio-economic
status of
women
through
implementation
of programs
and projects
and
advocating
for policy
formulation
or effective
implementation
of existing
laws/policies
on women.
One of its
significant
achievements
in advocacy
works is the
creation of
the National
Commission
on the Role
of Filipino
Women (NCRFW),
the national
government
machinery
for women.
NCWP is a
member of
ASEAN
Confederation
of Women’s
Organizations
(ACWO),
International
Council of
Women (ICW)
and The
International
Alliance of
Women (TIAW) |
